I know I haven’t used this blog for anything yet, but this ties into its initial purpose and is important.

Recently, there has been an outcry in Canada over Jenna Talackova being removed from the Miss Universe Canada competition, with the Change.org petition for demanding her return to the competition gaining tens of thousands of signatures.  Meanwhile, the Canadian equivalent of a federal GENDA (Gender Expression Non-Discrimination Act) is due for its second reading before the House of Commons in AprilC-279 adds Gender Expression and Gender Identity protections to the Canadian Human Rights Act and Criminal Code.  Unfortunately, the Canadian Parliament is dominated by the Conservative Party, and without public support C-279 is unlikely to pass.

There is a Change.org petition for C-279, and everyone, including non-Canadians, are encouraged to sign.

Much thanks to Natalie Reed for her original post.
